Rod is a straight slender stick growing on or cut from a tree or bush. 
Somewhere known as 'osier', it can be a stick or bundle of twigs used to
punish. In some societies, it is a long wand or a short staff carried as
a badge of office. Rods are usually around 40 to 100 cm of length.
