Even though this spell is normally referred to as mindseize, the name is not entirely correct.
It does not actually seize the mind itself, it seizes an image of the mind.
Getting mental images helps a psionicist better understand how the mind works, and perhaps more importantly, what weaknesses there are and how to use them.
Being subject to intrusion into one's mind is likely to throw one off balance for a second or two.
Naturally it's more useful to get insights into the minds of powerful beings.
The actual image can only be gotten at the precise time of death, but it is possible to cast this spell in advance to get a grip of the target's mind.
Trying to extract an image from a target that has an incompatible mind might result in severe pain for the caster.
This spell only works on monsters.
