The most powerful spell single target cold based attack spell is the spell
cold ray. This spell, instead of using ice, or magically enhanced ice, uses
pure cold energy. This energy is directed, as a beam at the target. The energy
is so strong that skin becomes brittle and instantly shatters. Bones and
organs near the surface can also become frozen solid for an instant, before
the body regains its original temperature. This spell takes much effort and
concentration, in order to bring forth the cold energy and keep it in its pure
form.  
It requires a reagent, a steel arrowhead.
