Magic can be used for many different purposes. One of the more
trivial spells that have been learned, is the spell that allows a wizard
to trace words in the air. The letters will stay until someone touches
them. Once this happens, they disappear, since this magic is very
unstable. Whoever left the words in the air, might not be to happy if he
returns and finds them gone though!
