The horo is a sail-like cape attached at helmet and waist. This cape 
serves a number of practical functions. It helps to catch arrows shot 
from behind, and in some cases the horo was stiffened with whalebone to 
this end. It could also be flung forward over the horse's head for the 
same purpose when advancing into archery. After the battle, the heads 
of defeated enemies can be carried in it.
