| You may have seen smaller versions of this monster in other places. The beholder is a round ball-like monster that hovers and drifts slowly about. Its skin is a thick leathery hide, covered in chitinous plates harder than mithril. While low on facial features, it does have a gaping mouth with lots of sharp teeth and a single eye the size of a basketball. Sticking up from the top of its head -- or body, really -- are ten eyestalks, each with a single baseball-sized eye.
Beholders are known to be highly intelligent.
